Merry Christmas 2011 !

Merry Christmas 2011 !

Merry Christmas 2011!

Tonight is Christmas Eve and although I spend in the family home, I still made a small Christmas tree at home. I'm not a child now, but I love this period! The smell of pine, the pretty lights, golden decorations, gingerbread and other delicacies ...
Well, here is a fake tree but there is the smell scented candles! ;)

I crafted some new decorations for our tree, year after year, I would have a good collection!

A garland of snowflakes of the last year, added the two hearts, the angel and the little hat knit jacquard.
I used drops design patterns you find here, here and here.

It was the first time I was testing the Jacquard and it was not easy! I have to improve myself  because I have  another idea of jacquard knit! To be continued ...

I wish you all a good Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas!

The braided headband

It is the month of the accessory in Mimii The Lab! After the snood, Karyn woolly hat, here's braided headband.
Spotted on the blog of Mathilde, here, it's my turn to do it.

Explanations:
I didn't buy the model Phildar (maybe it would have be better to help me a little because it doesn't look like I had hoped) but here is what I did: 3 strips of 60cm long, 6cm wide at rib point with a wool 4.5. I chose a wool a little too thick which give volume to the headband, a wool 3.5 or 4 would have been nice. Once the three bands made, you just have to weave and sew.

Wool: Chanteleine, Goliath 100% recovered from my mother, it seems that this brand doesn't exist anymore ...

As Mathilde, I don't know if I'll wear it but it is a really hot headband thanks to 100% virgin wool, we'll see! The return of cold with icy wind will decide me surely ;)

The winter was long to come but now, it’s done, it's cold! I wanted to knit me a hat, my first woolly hat. Basically, I don’t like hat because I think it doesn’t suit me, I haven’t a head for (woolly) hat and I'm afraid it scratch or it makes the hair all electric etc ... But the idea of a warm comfort win and here is my first hat!

I called Karyn's wooly hat because I followed the tutorial of Mademoizelle K which I really like the work. It's really simple to do and in just 2 hours of time it's done! You can find the tutorial here (in french)

It is a wooly hat in moss stitch, wool Illico, Lichen colors, of Phildar (55% acrylic, 20% polyamide, 20% mohair). By cons, unlike the tutorial, I used the needles of  7 because I didn’t have 8 and I modified a little the end, all my
decreases with stitches together upside down.

I still think that the woolly hats don’t suit me because it looks like a mushroom or cup of fruit oak but hey, I like it and I will wear!

The snood in Tricotin

In August, I had bought a nice acrylic Tricotin which I had mentioned when making that bracelet and I had also announced a project. So, it took me almost three months to realize this snood in Tricotin, for a few hours here and there. I must confess, I wanted to fully realize my tricotin manually, but at 2-3 hours a tube, I finally cracked and bought a mechanical knitting ... I'm patient but not masochistic!

I saw this snood online on the website of Phildar and some bloggers have already successfully completed a long time ago, as Anaïs.
I didn't buy the pattern of Phildar and as usual I have advanced with feeling. I have decided to make the tubes shorter to make it tighter and therefore warmer. I chose colors that I like more than Phildar. So I crafted 29 tubes 170cm in length in 5 colors (black, dark blue, blue, purple and two shades of gray) and differents threads (cotton, acrylic, wool blend). I have knotted all the tubes and  I did same thing as the model to hide the knot.

I like the result that brighten my coats often dark and it can also serve as
neckband on a T-shirt. And it is really hot.
